Session Three War Room - A picture of GRACE!
Barbara F Chapmonds Testimony- I “had” a Religion, I “was” Religious then,- I “got” Saved.
When I was a young child I “had” a Religion. I remember my parents taking me to church on Sundays as a family, this was a weekly routine. When I became a teenager, I “had” another, new Religion and I went to church with my best friend every time the doors were open.
In my church going experiences I remember “hoping” Jesus would come when I was in church, that’s because I was not sure about my relationship with Jesus, (I wasn’t saved, only thought I was).
I remember being “religious” and talking the talk. I was good at telling people what they should and shouldn’t do to stay out of hell. I really thought I was saved and on the right track, you could not tell me any different!! Having an “experience or seeing a light” is not “salvation”.
You must admit you're a “sinner” and “confess” your sins to Jesus and ask Him to personally “come into your heart. You don’t have to “change first or clean up first”. Just trust Him from your “heart” and He will do the rest, as you grow in your relationship with Him.”.
Before I got saved, I don’t remember sharing the “Love of Jesus” or even leading anyone to Jesus. I was “blinded by the devil” and caught in the “Religious Trap”, like so many are. Satan also knows the Bible; he can make things “Look Godly” when they’re not!
When I was a teen, and even up until I “really got saved” at the age of 27, I was taught you could lose your salvation. Oftentimes, you will hear people say they are “backslidden” or they got saved one time, but they aren’t now. That is one of satans biggest lies!
When the Holy Spirit started dealing with me about salvation, I was in a church revival service. The only other people attending were church members. I thought to myself, “Why are they preaching on salvation, everyone here is saved”.
I was uncomfortable with the preaching, so I thought, maybe God is talking to me and I need to get saved (remember, I thought I was, for years).
I remember quietly, and only to myself, while sitting in the pews saying, “Ok Lord Save Me” amen. That didn’t do anything for me. In my soul there was a “black, dark space” an empty place that needed something; I just didn’t understand what it was.
That evening, I went next door to a church members home, I sat on the floor around the coffee table and talked to her about my life. For about two hours, it was a fight in my spirit/heart, I had to “give up” my good deeds/works and confess I was really a sinner and needed Jesus.
I remember ONE QUESTION my friend asked me, “What has Jesus done for you, you told me what you’ve done for Him, but what has He done for you? You talk about Jesus and the Holy Spirit getting my attention! So I prayed, gave all my good deeds to Jesus, confessed to Him I was a sinner and I needed Him to come into my heart and save me; by faith, not counting on any “feelings”. That’s it!
So simple, but it was from my HEART, not my head knowledge this time.
Jesus saves “one time” and He seals and keeps you as His child forever. (Read the Book of Ephesians, you will understand salvation and being sealed by the Holy Spirit of God within you, a lot better. The first book written in this ministry was on Ephesians)
After salvation, we need to get into Gods Word, ask Him to show us how to live, follow His instructions and bear fruit. That means there will be a change in our hearts, attitudes, friends, places we go, and things we say. The Holy Spirit will guide you.

The War Room – Selected Verses to study in class 2-6-16 “Session Two”
Don't use foul or abusive language. What does this say to you?
Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. How can we encourage others with our words?
30 And do not bring sorrow to God's Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. How do we accomplish obedience to such attitudes?
A gossip goes around telling secrets, but those who are trustworthy can keep a confidence. What exactly does a gossip say or do? How do we handle asking others to pray for someone that is in deep anguish or trouble without crossing over into gossip?
O Lord, I am calling to you. Please hurry! Listen when I cry to you for help!2 Accept my prayer as incense offered to you, and my upraised hands as an evening offering. 3 Take control of what I say, O Lord, and guard my lips. Does this prayer sound familiar to any of us? Anyone want to share an experience?
Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. What does it mean to “imitate” can someone look it up on google for us?
2 Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God….. 7 Don't participate in the things these people do. Why do you think the scriptures tell us “do not participate in certain activities and hang with certain people? What happens when we do?
1 John 1:8-10
If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. Does this verse give us a “license to sin”? Open discussion
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. 2 Share each other's burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. What do you think this verse is saying?
I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments. What does “freedom” mean to you? Can someone look the word up?
2 Corinthians 3:17-18
For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Does anyone want to share what this verse is saying to them?
So Christ has truly set us free. Now make sure that you stay free, and don't get tied up again in slavery to the law. What things would cause us to “get tied up again” into slavery, what does slavery mean here, can someone look the word up?
But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
Why do you think Jesus keeps telling us not to sin but walk in “freedom”?
Our last verse today has the ACTION words needed so we can fulfill these scriptures today. What three words are they???

For those "Early Bird Planners"... Session One - Food for Thot!
Session One: The War Room – Verse to ponder on for the first week
Of the many verses that will be in your work book for the first week at home "after" our 1-30-16 meeting, this one really stuck with me and we felt it was one that was important enough for us to share early and have time to ponder on it even before our first War Room Session. It is always a "good thing" to evaluate ourselves. May the Holy Spirit of God our Father, speak to each of us today and give us those "Hungry Hearts". Amen
2 Corinthians 13:5-10
Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?
When we are out of line with Christian standards we have to ask ourselves, Am I a true Christian, or am I a counterfeit? Have I been born again, or am I only putting up a front? Those of us who are Christians ought to ask ourselves that occasionally. It is a good idea to examine yourself, especially if there is any kind of wrong behavior involved.
The very fact that the apostle could ask a question like that indicates that a possible answer is what marks true Christianity. A Christian, of course, is not simply one who joins a Christian church. Nor does adhering to a certain moral standard in your life or the fact that you consistently read the Bible make you a Christian. A true Christian is someone in whom Christ dwells. And the person in whom Christ dwells will have certain inescapable evidence of that fact given to him or her. Paul is suggesting that we ask ourselves if we have the evidence that Jesus Christ lives in us.
You may be asking, How can I know that? The answer is found in several places in Scripture. For instance, Scripture speaks of an inner witness. In Romans Paul says, The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children (Romans 8:16). That is one way you can know. There is an inner testimony, a feeling, a sense within produced by the Spirit of God who dwells within that you are part of the great family of God.
Scripture speaks also of desires that are born in the heart of a new Christian. First Peter 2:2 says, Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. One of the marks of born-again believers is that they have a deep and sudden thirst for the Word of God, a hunger to be fed, to know the truth of God.
This inner change will also produce an outward change, which is not all subjective. We can answer the question, Is Jesus Christ in you? by observing our conduct, because the inner change will produce a different attitude toward our behavior. One of the striking things about new Christians is that they invariably begin to manifest a totally different attitude toward things they once thought were appropriate. In some of the more blatant forms of evil, such as attitudes about lying or drunkenness or stealing, they find immediately that their attitude is changed. That is because Christ lives in them, and light can have no part with darkness. Christ cannot share with Belial. Even our attitude toward our selfishness changes. We see how selfish we have been. It looks ugly and distasteful in our eyes, and we want to be free from it.
Lord, help me to honestly examine myself Thank You that as I do so, I can trust Your Spirit to show me what is displeasing to You.

The War Room Countdown Preparations..........
EXCITED! I am finally done with the Power Point Presentation for our 5 week lessons. I have tweaked it so many times, it is time to "leave it alone" and let God use what I have as a final draft. Gonna trust Him, it will come across to ya'll in a way that will give God Glory and we all learn and be more like Him by the close of the five weeks! Yes and Amen.
