This past weekend Salt Shakin Sisters had Lesson #4 on the Armor of God in my home. We had technical difficulties and was unable to view the lesson from Priscilla Shrier, in full.

The devil was working, but we were working harder! We heard enough on walking by faith and it requiring “action” on our part that we were tested and we persevered and enjoyed our study anyway.

I have to confess this morning; I was not geared for the lesson.  (I had been ready and prepared for two months, as I prepared the lesson months in advance).

The attendance in past weeks had been low and my excitement and passion was a bit on the weak side. I have been in the position so many times, I have lost count, so why would I allow this time to be any different; we all get a little tired and weary at times, and praise God, He is always there just in time.

I had a friend that showed up for the class that I had forgotten was going to come, that was inspirational to me. In the past few weeks there have been some major changes in my church, and my husband and I had resigned, at the time of this gathering in my home, my husband and I had not been to church in three weeks. Spiritually I was fine, but the fellowship is an absolute in our Christian walk; don’t ever fool yourself and think you can live for God and never go to church! The bible is very clear on telling us to not forsake the assembling of ourselves together in unity, we need to lift and encourage one another.

To make my rambling short today, I was sharing in our gathering, what I had received from a few verses in our study, only to find out that I had an “anxious issue” more than a person I was sharing about.  God is so cool.

Confession is good for the soul and we all need to share our hearts and be blessed by others. As I was sharing, I thought of today’s Psalms verses, and I very plainly saw in my spirit the words; “Do not lie to yourself”! I remember that this small portion of the verse was jumping off the page last Friday as I was meditating on it.

I know now, I did receive enough of what God wanted for me that morning, because it was useful and spoke to me again during our gathering, and it was time to fess up and not deny I had some things I needed prayer for. And after sharing my heart, some of the other ladies shared theirs and then we all knew the needs of each other, and how to pray for one another throughout the next week.

After our meeting I was also inspired to dig into this study more faithfully, as all the girls agreed, we would do a study on Psalms 119 in the weeks ahead. Thankful to share the Word of God!I am going to copy all the verses for us below, as we need to see them to continue in sharing what God has to say.

25 I lie in the dust; revive me by your word.26 I told you my plans, and you answered. Now teach me your decrees.27 Help me understand the meaning of your commandments, and I will meditate on your wonderful deeds.28 I weep with sorrow; encourage me by your word.29 Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.30 I have chosen to be faithful, I have determined to live by your regulations.31 I cling to your laws. Lord, don't let me be put to shame! 32 I will pursue your commands, for you expand my understanding.

Today's meditation/study came out in a line by line prayer:

25- When I am weary and worn down, revive me in your word.

26-I’ve talked to you about my plans and have asked you to speak to me and show me the right way to go and also see your favor in my life as I strive to obey your word.

27-Every day I ask, that when I open the word, you will give me fresh insight and understanding to what you have for me, and give the strength and grace to adhere to, and follow your instructions. Help me to meditate on your word; some days it will be by reviewing copied verses, or just remembering a few simple words from my study. Remind me of your word in the tough circumstances, when I really need you to show me what I am supposed to do or say in order to show a Christ like character.

28-I am not weeping with sorrow, but there may be those that are, I can only pray you would lay that person on my heart to pray for them, text them, call them, email them, or send them a Salt Shakin Sister Card. There are many of us in the midst of sorrow and we pray through your awesome words in Psalms today, that you encourage us all and give us the hope we need to press on!

29-Here is the one for me last week – don’t lie to myself, help me live by your regulations. Think about this one for a few minutes. Are you being honest, really honest with yourself and God about some things that are in your life that may be “baggage” that needs cleaned out? Do you have some strongholds you need victory over?  Be honest, ask God to show you what HE wants you to change or correct in your life.

30-I have chosen a life of being a faithful Christian, (God did not tell us it would be easy, but it is worth it!) it is my desire to be faithful every day, I am determined to follow Jesus and daily seek His guidance through prayer and studying His Word = blessings. When you fail Him, get up, dust yourself off, don’t get under condemnation that is a lie from the devil. Don’t lie to yourself, AND don’t let the devil lie to you either.

31+32-I will cling to your Word and I ask for fresh understanding of it every time I open the Bible. Speak Lord Jesus, I am listening.

Amen and Amen. Bfc

 “Take Action!”

Psalms 119:33-35

33 Teach me your decrees, O Lord; I will keep them to the end.34 Give me understanding and I will obey your instructions; I will put them into practice with all my heart.35 Make me walk along the path of your commands, for that is where my happiness is found.

Teach Me – Give Me – Make Me ------ I will, I will, I will practice what you tell me.

Today’s verses are really repetitive and building on  previous verses we studied.  We learn and retain things when we read them over and over and over; we all learn differently and God has no “time limit” on how fast or how far we are supposed to go in a bible study.

The main thing is, spend time with our Father and ask Him to help us understand and HEAR what it is, He wants us to hear, every time we crack open the bible.

You can  see very clearly there are  many “action” words within all of God’s Word. He does His work and we have to do our work. No magic wands and no Santa Claus wish lists, life is not that simple; we have to be realistic and committed to receive what the last few words of these verses tell us ……………. This is where we find our happiness! Obedience=Blessings and Godly Favor.

Renew My Life

Psalms 119:36-40

Give me an eagerness for your laws rather than a love for money! Turn my eyes from worthless things, and give me life through your word. Reassure me of your promise, made to those who fear you. Help me abandon my shameful ways; for your regulations are good. I long to obey your commandments! Renew my life with your goodness.

  1. Give me an eagerness for your laws
  2. Turn my eyes from worthless things
  3. Give me life through your word
  4. Reassure me of your promise
  5. Help me abandon my shameful ways
  6. Renew my life with your goodness.

I love this study in Psalms 119; every time we sit and meditate on His word, we see a new and fresh prayer in the word. It is such a gift and blessing from our Jesus, to be able to read God’s Word and then pray it back to Him anytime we have the need to.

If we don’t hold some of these values in our hearts, all we need to do is ask our  Father to fill us as we read and pray His word. - Give me life through your word. Amen

Do you “really” trust Jesus and what His Word says?

Psalms 119:41-48

41 Lord, give me your unfailing love, the salvation that you promised me.42 Then I can answer those who taunt me, for I trust in your word.43 Do not snatch your word of truth from me, for your regulations are my only hope.44 I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever.45 I will walk in freedom, for I have devoted myself to your commandments.46 I will speak to kings about your laws, and I will not be ashamed.47 How I delight in your commands! How I love them! 48 I honor and love your commands. I meditate on your decrees.

Praying Gods Word back to Him – Psalms 119:41-48

Lord, give me your unfailing love

I trust in your word.

Your regulations are my only hope.

I will keep on obeying your instructions forever and ever

I will walk in freedom.

I will not be ashamed.

I will meditate on your decrees.

Yes, we love Gods Word if we know Jesus as our Personal Savior, but do we “really” TRUST Him and take Him at His Word? I believe we strive to, but we also set limits on God. We trust Him to a certain degree, and if we can’t see quick results when we pray, or ask God to do something for us, our trust tends to waver and weaken. Reading and meditating on God’s Word helps increase our faith and trust in Him; we will never be able to fully trust Him without knowing Him through having that close relationship that only comes from spending time with Him.

If you have a friend, don’t you spend a lot of time with them? How long did it really take you to become true friends? It took time, correct? How long was it before you “really” trusted them enough to confide personal issues with them; things that you would never tell anyone else?

This is the same thing we need to do with Jesus, and it won’t happen when all you do is go to church on Sunday and never talk to Him until the next Sunday!

HOPE deferred makes a person sick and depressed. Have you ever felt absolutely hopeless? You were at your wits end? You couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. If one more  bad thing happens to you, you are going to break.  Life will oftentimes make us feel this way, and the only way out is when we regain our hope and vision that once kept us on track and motivated to press forward no matter what.  God’s Word is full of HOPE! But you won’t know how to obtain it or how to receive it, if you don’t check it out.

HOPE= Happy, Optimistic, Peaceful and Enthusiastic.

Freedom=

I will not be ashamed…..
